There are numerous scientific studies that guarantee, for the time being, that
the Cu/Ag ionization system is the most efficient disinfecting system. The
freeing of the ions Cu/Ag in the sanitary water destroys the Legionella and,
at the same time, drags the biofilm where this microorganism usually nests
avoiding hiding places and opaque areas of the treatment. In the United States

The resistant chlorine protozoos, some of which are used by the legionella
to resist chloration, are also destroyed. The aerosols that can form in treated
water, showers, cooling towers, humidifiers, contain active Cu/Ag ions and
therefore are not contagious.
With the Cu/Ag systems all the secondary effects that the normal treatments
cause against legionella like corrosion and the wearing away of the hydraulic
installations components disappear.
It has been proven after three exhaustive studies on behalf of scientists and
various universities in the U.S.A., Germany and United Kingdom that the
Cu/Ag electrolysis system is remarkably more efficient against the prevention
of legionellosis than the traditional treatments with biocides, chlorine and
temperature elevation.
The Cu/Ag system assure the water quality through the efficiency of the
ionization, assures to respect the environment and peoples health, and at the
same time facilitates the compliance of the legislation that mandates having a
prevention system against legionella in high risk installations
Copper Ion (Cu++) is a powerful algicide and the values of maximum efficiency
against microorganisms is at 0,4ppm (mg/l), far from the maximum security for
consumers 2,0ppm (mg/l) established by the guideline 98/83/EC of the Council, relating
to the quality of the water destined
to human consumption. The copper ions
destroy the negatively charged cells of
the organisms such as algae, and
bacteria and has a capacity to act
in many slopes both
in the interior as
well as the exterior
of the cell.
Copper can attack and break
the respiratory enzymes in
the cellular membrane decreasing
therefore the use
of oxygen and increasing
fermentation.
